Solutions Engineer

An Oil and Gas company in downtown Houston is looking to hire a Solutions Engineer to join their Information Systems department. This group is dedicated to technical project development that optimizes any piece of O&G production through technology. The Solutions Engineer should come from a background in the field, and will be responsible effectively communicating between the Production Engineers and the software development group. This role will be aligned with international well support. This person could be required to create visualization with Spotfire, or participate in data analytics. However, the main function of this position is understanding the business (exploration and production operations), and delivering IT solutions to improve business functions. Lastly, this person must be comfortable working on-site in Downtown Houston 5 days / week. Based on knowledge and years of experience, this position offers an hourly rate of $60-70/hr.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering
3+ years of professional work experience in the O&G industry
Knowledgeable in different aspects of O&G production (exploration, planning, geology, drilling, production, logistics, supply chain, etc)
Knowledgeable in production optimization efforts
Experience with SQL querying and validating data
Excellent communication and strong willingness to learn
Ability to come up with solutions for complex business problems


Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience communicating business requirements to software developer groups
Experience creating visual reports using tools such as PowerBI, Spotfire, or Tableau
MBA Graduate
