Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations, gathering detailed histories and understanding clients’ needs from their initial consultation through the entire treatment journey.

• Develop individualized treatment plans that are tailored to the specific goals and circumstances of each client, utilizing evidence-based approaches to therapy.

• Facilitate therapeutic sessions, both individually and in groups, providing a supportive and constructive environment for healing and self-exploration.

• Regularly monitor and document clients’ progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans based on ongoing assessments and feedback.

• Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and social workers, to create comprehensive intervention plans that address clients' holistic healthcare needs.

• Manage client referrals to other specialists, ensuring seamless coordination of care within the healthcare system.
\n
• Engage in proactive follow-ups with clients post-hospitalization, working closely with medical staff to facilitate smooth transitions back into community-based care.

• Work with families and caregivers, providing them with the tools and support needed to manage the mental health challenges their loved ones face.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The counselor will work with a diverse population, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and substance use disorders. Our clients come from various backgrounds, necessitating a culturally sensitive approach to care that is cognizant of individual differences in life experience and societal challenges. The ability to establish rapport and trust will be critical to success in this role.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.

• Valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State is mandatory.

• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Demonstrated professional experience as a mental health counselor with a proven track record of effectively helping clients.
\n
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR or similar platforms, for managing client information and documentation.
\n
• Knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional health conditions, including addiction disorders, and their impact on mental health.
\n
• Commitment to adhering to the best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear interaction with clients and interdisciplinary team members.
\n
• Empathetic demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to connect with clients from all walks of life.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience in a community health setting, with a focus on underserved populations, will be advantageous.
\n
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices and techniques, especially in group therapy contexts.
\n
• Additional certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The position offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 annually, along with a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
