Commercial HVAC/R Business Development Representative

$120,000–$200,000+ Earning Potential | Base Salary + Uncapped Commission | Elmhurst, IL

Chicagoland Territory | Full-Time | B2B Outside Sales

Progressive Mechanical Services is looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC/R Outside Sales Representative to manage and grow commercial customer relationships throughout Chicagoland.

This is a relationship-driven commercial sales role focused on helping businesses, property managers, and facility teams solve their HVAC/R needs. You'll work with customers to understand their equipment, service requirements, maintenance needs, and long-term facility goals, then develop the right service and project solutions.

The role includes developing new accounts, but just as importantly, you'll build lasting customer relationships, manage opportunities, and grow revenue.

The Role

You'll serve as a commercial HVAC/R sales resource for customers across the Chicagoland territory. This means getting to know the customer's business, understanding their facility and equipment, identifying areas where we can help, and staying engaged throughout the relationship.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Manage and develop relationships with commercial customers and key decision-makers
• Meet with property managers, facility managers, building owners, contractors, and business leaders
• Evaluate customer needs related to HVAC/R service, maintenance, repairs, replacements, and projects
• Conduct facility visits and customer meetings throughout the territory
• Develop service, maintenance, and project proposals based on customer needs
• Present recommendations and solutions to customers
• Maintain regular communication and follow-up with existing accounts
• Identify opportunities to expand services within current accounts
• Develop new customer relationships and pursue qualified commercial opportunities
• Manage the sales process from initial discussion through proposal, negotiation, and close
• Coordinate with service and operations teams to ensure customer expectations are met
• Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and pipeline information in the CRM
• Stay engaged after the sale to support retention and future business opportunities

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of commercial B2B sales experience
• Previous experience selling into commercial, industrial, construction, facility services, or building services markets
• Experience with HVAC/R or another technical service offering strongly preferred
• Proven ability to manage customer relationships and grow revenue
• Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills
• Comfortable discussing technical services and solutions with business decision-makers
• Professional presentation and communication skills
• Organized and capable of managing multiple accounts and opportunities
• Comfortable working independently throughout a geographic territory
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation
