Position Overview The Department of Political Science at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for part-time lecturer positions in Public Administration on its Temporary Faculty Pool. The Temporary Faculty Pool is continuously open; positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to begin teaching on short notice. Subject Areas Public Policy Fiscal Administration Human Resources Research Methods Ethics Intergovernmental Relations City Management NGOs Emergency Management Leadership Urban Governance Criminal Justice Community Sustainability Teaching Terms Fall Term: Late August to Mid-December; Spring Term: Mid-January to Mid-May. Summer session teaching may also be available. Responsibilities Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or a related discipline relevant to the curriculum. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Political Science or a related discipline. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching. For MPA courses, both academics and practitioners are welcomed to apply. For applicant academics: ABD in Political Science or Public Administration required by date of application. For applicant practitioners: MPA (by date of application) or Master’s in a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years experience in government or nonprofit organizations required. Salary and Benefit Information Initial appointments are for one semester only. The monthly base salary is prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Lecturer ranks and salary ranges (2024): Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance for employees and qualifying dependents. Out of State Employment California State University prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU related work outside of California. Tenure-line faculty are expected to establish an on-campus presence to fulfill their responsibilities.
