Salary: $60,000 - $96,000 (experience depending) and full benefit package day one

Job Summary

We're looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to help ensure our employees are paid accurately and on time weekly. In this role, you'll support payroll processing, maintain accurate employee and payroll records, and help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with payroll systems and Excel, and understands the importance of accuracy and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information

What You'll Do

• Process weekly payroll, including hourly and salaried employees, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and off-cycle payments.
• Enter and maintain employee payroll data such as new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and direct deposit information.
• Review timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies with managers before payroll deadlines.
• Administer deductions for benefits, retirement plans, garnishments, and other withholdings.
• Reconcile payroll registers, tax filings, and general ledger accounts, and help prepare journal entries.
• Support quarterly and year-end processes, including W-2s and tax filings, in coordination with our payroll provider.
• Answer employee questions about paychecks, withholdings, and deductions in a clear, friendly, and confidential manner.
• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax laws, and assist with internal and external audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and documentation.

What You Bring

• 2 -5 years of payroll, accounting, or related experience.
• Working knowledge of payroll regulations, including FLSA, federal and state tax withholding, wage and hour rules.
• Experience with payroll systems such as Rippling and Paycom.
• Solid Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and basic formulas).
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet firm deadlines.
• Extremely organized and able to use a variety of systems and processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Utmost discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
