Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active Michigan teaching license with Special Education endorsement (please include certification upon application)
• Experience in a self-contained classroom or resource room setting, especially at the middle school level, is highly valued
• Strong commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive education
• Ability to build trust and rapport with students, families, and school staff
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Up-to-date knowledge of current special education laws, IEP processes, and instructional best practices

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver differentiated instruction based on IEP goals for a diverse group of middle school students
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans to meet students’ academic, emotional, and social needs
• Maintain accurate records, including IEP documentation and progress reports
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure a cohesive learning environment
• Communicate consistently with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and strategies for success
• Create a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and self-advocacy
