Senior AccountantSalary: $80,000 – $90,000 Location: Orlando, FL | Fully Onsite Candidates must live in or be within reasonable commuting distance of the Greater Orlando area.About the PositionAn established professional services organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. Reporting closely to the Controller and CFO, this role will have significant involvement in general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and audit support. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced accountant who wants responsibility beyond routine transactional accounting, with opportunities to work on technical accounting, internal controls, process improvement, and financial reporting.What Makes This Role DifferentDirect exposure to and collaboration with the Controller and CFOOwnership of important general ledger and month-end close functionsOpportunity to work with technical accounting requirements, including ASC 842 and ASC 606Involvement in monthly financial statement preparation and detailed account analysisParticipation in annual financial statement and 401(k) auditsResponsibility for fixed assets, accruals, tax filings, and internal control activitiesAbility to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and help implement accounting improvementsA broad scope of responsibilities that extends beyond a typical Staff Accountant roleResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will:Partner with the Controller and CFO on day-to-day Finance and Accounting activitiesComplete month-end close processes, including recurring, non-recurring, and adjusting journal entriesPrepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliationsReconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts and research variances or discrepanciesAnalyze accounts to identify unusual transactions, trends, and financial fluctuationsPrepare supporting schedules for balance sheet accountsRecord fixed asset additions and prepare associated depreciation and amortization entriesCalculate and record monthly, quarterly, and annual accrualsAssist in producing monthly financial statementsMaintain accurate general ledger activity and prepare necessary journal entriesAssist with accounting and compliance requirements associated with ASC 842 and ASC 606Support local, state, and federal tax filings along with other required reportingProvide support during annual financial statement and 401(k) auditsAssist in reviewing, evaluating, and maintaining internal controlsCreate spreadsheet-based reports and validate the accuracy of supporting financial informationAssist with company Certificate of Insurance documentation when neededEvaluate existing accounting procedures and recommend process enhancements while preserving appropriate controlsContribute to special accounting projects and other departmental initiatives as assignedRequired Qualifications5+ years of accounting experience requiredBachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, or a bachelor's degree in Business with an Accounting emphasisStrong practical knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end closeDemonstrated experience preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliationsExperience completing bank and credit card reconciliationsKnowledge of accrual accounting, fixed assets, depreciation, and amortizationExperience supporting financial statement preparation and performing account analysisStrongly preferred: exposure to ASC 842 and ASC 606Experience assisting with external audits and internal control processesStrong Excel/spreadsheet capabilities and financial analysis skillsExperience working within an ERP or accounting system; NetSuite experience preferredAbility to independently organize and meet recurring accounting deadlinesMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorshipCompensation & Opportunity$80,000 – $90,000 base compensationDirect partnership with the Controller and CFOBroad exposure to corporate accounting and financial reportingHands-on experience with ASC 842 and ASC 606Involvement in annual financial statement and 401(k) auditsOpportunity to contribute to improvements in accounting processes and internal controlsIdeal CandidateThis opportunity is well suited for a Senior Accountant who has built a strong foundation in general ledger accounting and month-end close and is comfortable working independently.
