Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and NICU/PICU experience.

Details

• Level 4 NICU setting within a children's hospital
• Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00-19:00
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in NICU and PICU, Level 4 experience required
• PICU Cardiac experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
• PALS and ACCS preferred
• VA state license required, pending license accepted if in-hand before start and candidate holds an active license in another state
• BSN preferred
• Epic experience required
• Competency in neonatal/pediatric respiratory equipment including CPAP, oscillating ventilator, high frequency jet ventilator, and oxygen delivery systems
• Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Two professional references required
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level 4 NICU and pediatric critical care setting
• Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
• Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, respiratory distress syndrome, and cystic fibrosis
• Perform bronchoscopy assistance and pulmonary hygiene procedures
• Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
• Previous UVA Health employees must have 1-year separation and leadership approval to return; external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction for this unit
• First-time travelers considered
• Maximum RTO of 40 hours per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
