We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper with Union Payroll expertise to join a busy team in New Jersey. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent and is ideal for someone who can independently manage payroll and bookkeeping tasks in a fast-moving environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy. The role supports weekly union payroll processing, financial recordkeeping, and reporting activities that require sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and consistent follow-through.

Responsibilities:
• Administer weekly union payroll using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring pay is issued accurately and on schedule.
• Review labor classifications, overtime, and project-based wage rates to calculate earnings in accordance with union agreements.
• Prepare and file certified payroll and prevailing wage documentation to meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Track and remit union-related deductions, fringe benefit contributions, and associated reports with precision.
• Support day-to-day bookkeeping functions by managing accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Reconcile bank activity and assist with monthly accounting close procedures to maintain reliable financial records.
• Organize payroll and accounting documentation to support audits, reporting needs, and internal record retention.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling payroll data, employee information, and financial records.

• At least 5 years of experience in payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, or a closely related function.

• Current hands-on experience processing payroll in a business setting, including direct involvement with union payroll.

• Demonstrated ability to manage certified payroll, with prevailing wage knowledge strongly preferred.

• Practical experience using ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing is preferred.

• Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and confidence handling day-to-day bookkeeping transactions.

• Strong Excel skills, accurate data entry abilities, and close attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet recurring weekly payroll deadlines.

• Sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential payroll and financial information.
