Civil Litigation Attorney

We are working with a sophisticated, Los Angeles based, general civil litigation, boutique firm that routinely handles complex business litigation, government investigations, white-collar defense litigation, health care fraud and False Claims Act cases, employment related litigation, student representation, and appellate advocacy.The firm seeks two junior associates with two to seven (2-7) years of general civil litigation experience, preferably with some white-collar defense experience. The position is hybrid, requiring one day in-office, but allowing as many in-office days as the successful candidate prefers. Expected billables are 1800 hrs./yr. Expected salary is $205,000, depending upon experience and qualifications, with bonus opportunities twice, annually. The firm offers benefits about which its personnel will supply more information. RESPONSIBILITIES Attorneys hired may expect to perform all litigation related tasks, deftly and skillfully, from case inception through trial. Duties will include the following. Performing legal research Issuing interrogatories and document production requests, as well as responding to those propounded by opposing parties Using e-discovery software Conducting and defending depositions Engaging in motion practice Writing legal memoranda Drafting and filing briefs and motions (including substantive motions) and responses, thereto, at all stages of litigation (pre-trial, trial, post-trial, and appellate) Representing clients in mediations and arbitrations, as necessary Appearing in court Making oral arguments, in court, at all stages of litigation (pre-trial, trial, post-trial, and appellate) Negotiating settlements QUALIFICATIONS Past Federal Judicial or State Supreme Court Clerkship experience Government experience (preferably with the DOJ) Trial experience Excellent legal writing and communication skills Excellent teamwork skills Assiduous attention to deadlines License, in good standing, to practice law in California OTHER DETAILS Salary: $205,000, depending upon experience and qualifications Bonus: Twice annually Billables: 1800 Experience: Two to seven (2-7) yrs.
