About the Role
We are hiring for a Payroll Specialist to join our growing team and play an important role in managing accurate and timely payroll operations. This position is ideal for someone who is highly analytical, comfortable working with detailed payroll data, and enjoys solving problems in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
In addition to day-to-day payroll responsibilities, this role will have exposure to compliance, reporting, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives. You'll work closely with internal teams to research discrepancies, answer payroll-related questions, and help improve the overall efficiency of payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process recurring payroll activities, including bonuses, incentives, advances, supplemental pay, and other compensation adjustments
- Review payroll data and supporting documentation to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile payroll information and investigate variances to maintain data accuracy
- Respond to payroll-related questions from employees, managers, and internal business partners
- Partner with cross-functional teams to research and resolve complex payroll issues
- Review compensation and employment information to confirm accurate payroll system setup
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for management and business partners
- Communicate payroll policies, procedures, and requirements to internal stakeholders
- Support payroll system updates, enhancements, and user acceptance testing
- Monitor changes to federal, state, and local payroll regulations and assess potential impacts
- Evaluate existing processes and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Create and maintain payroll procedures, documentation, and standard operating procedures
- Participate in payroll-related projects and other initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices and federal, state, and local regulations
- Experience with multi-state payroll and payroll tax requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
