Director of Accounting

Lion Forge Entertainment is searching for an exceptional individual to continue advancing accounting functionality. This position will be based in our Los Angeles office. This position will support animation, live action, distribution, and franchise matters across film and television content. The Director of Accounting is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, including their control systems, transaction processing operations, and financial reporting, while ensuring the work is completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Process and Manage Accounts Payable including preparation of weekly accounts payable cash flows and bank payments. Process and Manage Accounts Receivable invoicing, collections, and reporting. Reconcile credit card accounts on a weekly and month‑end basis. Review and maintain an accurate general ledger chart of accounts. Oversee and maintain detailed fixed asset schedules and records. Prepare and post journal entries for month‑end closing. Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for management review. Generate accurate month end financial statements and financial packages per the month‑end close schedule. Review and analyze monthly financials for significant fluctuations between budget, forecast and actual results. Prepare a written report of factors noted. Prepare various schedules related to month‑end reviews and required reporting. Conduct monthly meetings with entity heads to review financials. Prepare & audit distribution reporting ensuring accuracy and adhering to payment guidelines per contract. Manage business registrations, sales & use, franchise, local, state & international tax filings. Support CPA firm on year‑end tax return preparation and annual audit. Responsible for analyzing, creating, and developing fiscal policies, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives. Liaise with production accounting for film, television, and animation projects, including review of production cost reports, budget‑to‑actual analysis, and preparation of final cost reconciliations (“ultimates”) for completed productions. Manage capitalization and amortization of film and television production costs in accordance with ASC 926 (Entertainment — Films), including periodic impairment and net realizable value assessments. Oversee revenue recognition for content licensing, distribution, and streaming/platform agreements in accordance with ASC 606, partnering with Business Affairs to ensure deal terms are accurately reflected. Support intercompany accounting, allocations, and eliminations across Lion Forge Entertainment and affiliated Polarity entities. Provide support to production teams administer state, federal, and international film and television production tax incentive and rebate programs, including qualified spend tracking, incentive applications, and credit monetization. Partner with production teams to establish project‑level chart of accounts and cost tracking by title, season, and episode; monitor production cash flow, financing draws, and production bank account reconciliations. Review accounting treatment for co‑production, financing, and distribution agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual and treaty co‑production reporting requirements. Provide support for financial modeling, budget review, and profitability analysis to support development and greenlight decisions for new film, television, and animation projects. Maintain relationships with production insurance brokers and completion guarantors, ensuring bonding and coverage compliance for active productions. Maintain all confidential information in accordance with all company policies and procedures. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Requirements : Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required. Minimum 7 years of accounting management experience.Entertainment industry (television broadcaster, film studio or independent production company) experience required. Proficiency in NetSuite (or similar accounting software), MS Office (Excel) Familiarity with production accounting systems (e.g., Cast & Crew, Media Services, EP Budgeting/Movie Magic) and entertainment industry accounting standards (ASC 926, ASC 606) a plus. Broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues are required.
