The Major Gifts Officer and the Senior Major Gifts Officer will collaborate to grow the major gift portfolio and support the organization’s mission of fighting justice. Major Gifts Officer Partner with the Senior MGO to identify and cultivate high‑value prospects. Develop strategies to realize the current and lifetime giving potential of individual prospects. Build a work plan for 100‑125 current and prospective donors to increase major gifts. Collaborate with the Annual Campaign Manager and Donor & Foundation Relations Associate to identify and qualify new major and planned gift prospects. Build relationships with leaders across LAJC program areas to understand how the organization advances justice. Track and report relationship‑management activity using a constituent relationship management system. Promote racial equity on the development team through recruitment support, staff development and inclusive discussion. Develop travel plans that use time effectively for key meetings and stewardship activities. Represent LAJC at events and conferences where prospects and donors are present. Senior Major Gifts Officer Partner with the Director of Development and leadership team to grow and sustain a major gifts program. Identify, qualify, and engage new major and planned gift prospects. Manage an existing portfolio of 125‑150 active major gift donors, focusing initially on $5,000+ solicitations, with goals to increase to $25,000+. Maintain a deliberate sequence of interactions with each prospect and coordinate with the broader development effort. Track, analyze, and report portfolio health using a CRM, including disqualification when necessary to maintain a healthy pipeline. Mentor the two MGOs, model relationship‑building and storytelling skills, and share knowledge to support their growth. Collaborate across LAJC to align funding opportunities with the organization’s mission and priorities. Design and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events with leadership teams. Promote racial equity at all levels of the organization, supporting diversity in staffing and inclusive workspaces. Ideal Qualifications Major Gifts Officer: Minimum three years of development experience with major‑gift cultivation, track record of $40,000‑$60,000 gifts, proficiency with donor‑management software, ability to tailor engagement strategies, strong storytelling skills, commitment to social justice, and willingness to travel 50% of time. Senior Major Gifts Officer: At least eight years of nonprofit development experience, including three or more years in major‑gift portfolio management, successful $500,000‑$1,000,000+ fundraising, experience coaching associates, advanced CRM skills, superior storytelling, and commitment to racial equity. Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel frequently.
