Payroll Consultant

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Consultant to support complex payroll operations across a multi-state workforce. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with strong experience processing union payroll, managing compliance requirements, and handling high-volume payroll in a fast-paced environment. The consultant will work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and union regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll for employees across multiple states
• Administer and review union payroll in accordance with collective bargaining agreements
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits, and voluntary withholdings
• Review and audit timekeeping records for accuracy prior to payroll processing
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
• Maintain employee payroll records and supporting documentation
• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, tax filings, and accruals
• Support quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing
• Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews
• Partner with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related projects and process improvements
• Utilize payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, or similar platforms

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of payroll processing experience required
• Multi-state payroll experience required
• Union payroll experience required
• Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and wage/hour compliance
• Experience processing high-volume payroll accurately and efficiently
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, Paycom, or similar payroll systems
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• CPP certification is a plus

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Farmingdale, NY.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $78750.00 - $90000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits (subject to the terms of applicable plans/policies/agreements, which will be made available to you after commencing employment), including: 20 days of PTO, approximately 13 paid holidays, and 80 hours of paid sick time per full calendar year; 16 weeks paid parental leave; competitive healthcare benefits; 401k plan; and life and AD&D insurance.
