Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room Supervisor

The role involves assisting with pain management and supporting various specialty clinics, including podiatry, cardiac, and general surgery. Experience in labor and delivery is required, specifically in assisting with C-sections.

Job Details

• Experience: Registered Nurse with a strong background in critical access hospitals (CAH), and prior supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.
• Shifts: Options for scheduling include a traditional Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, or four 10-hour shifts from 7 AM to 5:30 PM.
• On-call Requirements: The position requires taking 10-14 days of call per month, with a callback time of 30 minutes.
• Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
• License: A current nursing license in Kansas or a multistate license is mandatory.
• Scrubs: Scrubs will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Operations: Oversee surgical schedules, room turnover, and patient flow to ensure efficient operations.
• Patient Care: May be required to provide direct patient care as needed, including recovery for patients who have received anesthesia.
• Staff Management: Manage staffing, shift scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and mentorship for OR nurses and surgical techs.
• Compliance & Safety: Enforce policies related to patient safety, infection control standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Resource Coordination: Monitor and manage inventory, surgical instruments, and equipment procurement in coordination with central processing and vendors.
• Interdepartmental Liaison: Maintain communication with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and pre/post-operative units to resolve issues and uphold patient care standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a related healthcare degree.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of clinical operating room experience is typical.
• Skills: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, crisis management skills, and a strong understanding of surgical procedures and sterile processing techniques.
