Communication Specialist / Speech Language Pathologist
Discover the Beauty of Communication in the Thriving City of Spokane – Embrace the Role of a Speech Language Pathologist
Imagine a career that not only gives a voice to those in need but also fills your spirit with purpose. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the picturesque environment of Spokane, you have the opportunity to do more than just treat communication and swallowing challenges. You'll unlock the potential, rebuild confidence, and foster connections amongst people of every age group — from energetic children whispering their first sounds to elderly individuals rediscovering their independence.
This position allows you to engage with a diverse population, providing support through both outpatient therapies and periodic inpatient interventions. Whether your heart lies in nurturing the language skills of children, aiding adults with neurogenic communication intricacies, or assisting seniors with cognitive and linguistic challenges, you'll thrive in a flexible and fulfilling atmosphere.
Conduct thorough evaluations on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients through standardized assessments and observation techniques.
Create tailored treatment strategies that cater to immediate goals and longer-term speech, cognitive, or swallowing challenges.
Implement individualized therapy sessions aimed at enhancing communication, language fluency, voice clarity, and swallowing capabilities.
Work collaboratively with fellow healthcare providers, including physical and occupational therapists, nursing staff, and physicians, to develop integrated care plans.
Provide educational resources to patients and families to facilitate progress beyond therapy sessions.
Occasionally participate in inpatient evaluations and interventions, ensuring seamless care throughout the treatment experience.
Keep precise, timely documentation that aligns with all relevant state, federal, and institutional directives.
Stay informed on the latest advancements in the field via continuing education and collaborative networking with peers.
Possess a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
Fulfill a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if you are not yet ASHA-certified.
Holding a state license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Expertise in evidence-based practices for individuals of all ages, with a deep understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing issues.
Exceptional communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Ability to adapt therapeutic strategies to address a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Strong clinical acumen and problem-solving capabilities.
Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and documentation requirements.
Competitive compensation based on experience.
Flexible scheduling options ideal for maintaining work-life balance and managing varied caseloads.
Opportunities for specialization in areas such as pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
Paid time off (PTO) alongside holiday remuneration.
Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
Reimbursement for continuing education and support for professional growth.
Collaborative environment that prioritizes quality care and ongoing learning.
In this vibrant setting, you will contribute much more than clinical services; you will join a community committed to restoring voices, enhancing communication, and creating joy through moments of understanding.
Here, you will work alongside colleagues who regard each other as family members, cultivating an environment where collaboration prevails over competition. You will have the privilege of shaping each patient's narrative, helping them share their unique stories with the world.
Life in Spokane offers an alluring blend of vibrant city life intertwined with a stunning natural backdrop. Known for its lush parks and scenic landscapes, Spokane allows outdoor enthusiasts to engage in breathtaking activities — hiking through sprawling forests, biking along the Spokane River, or spending weekends in nearby pristine wilderness.
Families enjoy the local culture through farmer's markets and community gatherings, while art lovers explore theaters, galleries, and the rhythms of local musicians filling the air with creativity. The city's affordable cost of living, combined with no state income tax and a flourishing healthcare industry, creates not just a place to live but a place to flourish in a rewarding career.
As you embark on this new adventure, you will find the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally, all within the welcoming embrace of the community.
Are you a passionate Speech Language Pathologist who values the power of empathy? Do you envision untold stories of self-expression behind a quiet child's gaze, or see fierce determination in the voice of a stroke survivor?
If you have a fervent desire to make a genuine difference, whether that means transitioning from pediatrics to adult services or incorporating early interventions into your expertise — we are excited to welcome you into our team.
If you feel that speech transcends mere sound, and that therapy involves building rapport rather than just setting targets — if you believe in joy as much as communication — this could be the transformative chapter in your career you've been seeking.
Join us in a community that cherishes connection, communication, and the courage to embark on new beginnings. Apply now to lend your voice to our mission and help others find their own.
