HEAT TREAT LAB TECHNICIAN

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Previous experience is preferred though willing to invest time/training into the right person that is looking for a long-term career in the heat-treating industry.

HEAT TREAT INSPECTION

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare samples for analysis including sectioning, mounting, polishing, and etching.
• Perform microhardness analysis for hardness and case depths.
• Analyze microstructures for grain size, structure, decarb, Alpha case, IGA/IGO, or other similar characteristics.
• Maintain established periodic testing programs.
• Order lab consumables. 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Pass an initial inspection test
• Participate in an annual round robin testing program overseen by management
• Show competence in the use of all hardness testing equipment
• Show competence in the use of conductivity meter
• Have a working knowledge of all procedures which govern the operation of hardness equipment
• Have a thorough understanding of the safety requirements in place for the inspection and shop
• Basic skills in computer, visual shop etc.
• Communication, verbal, phone, computers, etc.
• Hand & power tools, Rockwell testing.
• Ability to read and speak the English language.
• Ability to work well with others.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to manually lift, push or pull a maximum of 40 pounds .
• Ability to sit or stand a minimum of 2 hours at one time.
• Ability to climb stairs and/or walk a minimum of 1⁄2 mile at one time.

Work Environment:

• · The position is in a manufacturing environment and involves the ability to sit, stand, walk and lift for long periods of time throughout the day.
