Under close supervision of the Accounting Administrator II, the State Fair Worker - Accounting Assistant is responsible for participating in learning the administration, maintenance, and integrity of California Exposition and State Fairs' financial information processes. Under close supervision, the incumbent will assist in the preparation and entry of Accounts Receivable and Payable invoices, processing of checks, and learn to perform account reconciliations. These tasks require the incumbent to establish good working relationships with unit staff (coworkers), internal/external staff, and department management; maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance; exercise good judgment; maintain high ethical standards; and provide quality customer service. The incumbent must work cooperatively with managers, supervisors, and staff, as well as all control agency representatives. The incumbent must be able to quickly learn and complete work tasks in a demanding environment and deal with challenging requirements while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor. Incumbent will need to demonstrate a diverse fiscal background using advanced computer software and Excel skills to meet key deadlines.

Department Information The Accounting and Finance Branch mission is to maintain the fiscal integrity of the Department's automated accounting systems, provide technical support/consultation to fiscal/accounting staff regarding accounting tools/applications. In addition, the objective of the Accounting Department is to keep records of financial transactions for Cal Expo in an accurate, transparent and time-bound manner. Accounting is also responsible for preparing financial statements on a quarterly and yearly basis for management and the Board of directors. The mission of preparation of quarterly financial statements is to enable one to know the financial position of Cal Expo on a particular date. The Accounting Department is also responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, contracting and payroll for Cal Expo.
