Inside Sales & Service Representative – Costa Mesa, CA Compensation: $20–$25 per hour. About the Role The Inside Sales & Service Representative will meet or exceed sales targets set by the Manager, work closely with the Profit Center Manager to establish revenue and margin goals, and accurately process sales orders, bids, and telephone sales transactions. The role includes assisting customers at the Profit Center, growing sales with existing customers, generating new leads, identifying value‑added opportunities, and resolving customer issues in accordance with company policy. The position supports Counter and Outside Sales activities and communicates any credit risk changes to the Credit Manager while completing required safety and compliance training. Responsibilities Meet or exceed the sales targets established by your Manager. Work with the Profit Center Manager to establish revenue and margin targets. Accurately process sales orders and bids generated through telephone sales transactions. Assist customers who pick up their order at the Profit Center. Find innovative ways to grow sales with existing customers and become their trusted advisor. Generate sales leads that develop into new customers. Identify opportunities for value‑added services and articulate our solutions. Investigate and resolve customer problems, address pricing deductions and material returns timely in accordance with company policy and procedure, and follow up to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction. Support Counter and Outside Sales activities and all Profit Center activities as part of our Profit Center team. Communicate to the Profit Center Manager and Credit Manager any changes in a customer’s business that might cause a credit risk. Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned. Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. About You 1 year of experience in customer service or inside sales; contractor sales preferred. Knowledge of products sold in the Profit Center preferred. Qualifications Effectively use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) to communicate via email, maintain weekly sales plans, call reports, and customer contact files, and analyze customer data. Demonstrate outstanding customer service, telephone/verbal communication, and generous listening skills. Demonstrate product knowledge to answer customer questions and identify opportunities to upsell or cross‑sell. Build influential relationships and trust with customers and vendors through open and interactive communication. Be able to ask probing questions to understand customer needs, overcome objections by recommending profitable solutions, explain value‑added services, and secure the order and close the sale. Be able to build positive working relationships and inspire teamwork with co‑workers. Be able to learn and operate the computer‑related systems used to process orders. Be able to learn to operate warehouse material‑handling equipment. Skills Read, write, speak, and understand English.
