Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• The Physician Assistant will work under the guidance of a supervising physician, utilizing clinical expertise to provide high-quality care. Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, developing and managing treatment plans, and ensuring continuity of care.
• Direct patient interactions will be a significant part of the role, including examining, diagnosing, and analyzing health conditions to formulate individualized plans for treatment.
• Daily activities include performing patient rounds, writing medical orders, and facilitating hospital admissions and discharges effectively.
• In the surgical setting, you will provide pre-operative patient education, assist in the operating room during surgeries, and perform minor procedures as required.
• Post-operative care will involve providing detailed instructions and educational support to patients and their families, ensuring a thorough understanding of recovery processes.
• Effective communication is essential; thus, maintaining precise and confidential patient records will be part of your responsibilities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Board certification as a Physician Assistant is required, along with a current and valid state license to practice in Texas.
• A valid DEA license is necessary for this role.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification is expected to be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of advanced practice experience in surgery or hospital medicine is required, with a preference for candidates who have experience in operating room assistance and familiarity with laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and advanced analytical abilities to interpret complex data are essential for this position.
• Detail-oriented organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively will enhance workflow efficiency.
