Work Environment

This position is located at our onsite Surgical Center, where the pace is fast and the focus is on delivering critical care. You will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration and innovation, working shoulder to shoulder with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare specialists in a supportive environment. The role follows a structured schedule of Monday to Friday, with shifts starting at 5:00 pm, totaling 40 hours a week. Key Responsibilities

• Respond to trauma alerts effectively, swiftly assessing the condition of incoming patients to determine their needs.
• Stabilize critically injured patients by delivering immediate interventions that prevent further medical deterioration.
• Assist in resuscitation efforts and administer life-saving treatments during emergencies.
• Collaborate with the trauma team to coordinate comprehensive care for patients, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
• Conduct detailed physical examinations and interpret diagnostic results, contributing to accurate patient assessments and treatment plans.
• Administer medications and therapeutic procedures as directed by supervising physicians, maintaining high standards of care.
• Participate in invasive procedures and provide proficient wound management as needed.
• Educate patients and their families about trauma care protocols and recovery processes, promoting informed decision-making.
• Oversee the transfer of trauma patients to appropriate units or facilities, ensuring continuity of care during transitions.
• Monitor and manage patients' pain and discomfort, advocating for their comfort and recovery.
• Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth operations and optimal patient care, adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our patient population at the Surgical Center primarily consists of individuals facing acute injuries and emergencies requiring immediate attention. Our Physician Assistants are crucial in managing the complexities of trauma cases, ensuring each patient receives personalized and efficient care from the moment they enter the facility until their transfer to follow-up care. Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, culminating in the successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant in Texas.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in emergency medicine or trauma care.
• Comprehensive knowledge of trauma assessment and stabilization techniques.
• Ability to perform trauma-related procedures under physician supervision with confidence.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills focused on trauma evaluation.
• Excellent communication abilities to interact positively with patients, families, and team members.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environment, adapting as necessary to changing patient needs.
• Proficient in documenting care plans, including progress notes and treatment regimens efficiently.
• Familiarity with trauma-related medications and emergency procedures.
• A commitment to patient safety and adherence to infection control standards.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a surgical or trauma center setting, enhancing familiarity with surgical protocols and operations.
• Exposure to continuous professional education in trauma care methods.
• Capability to provide leadership or mentorship to less experienced staff in high-pressure situations.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is competitive, ranging from USD 140,000 to 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
