Work Environment

The work setting for this full-time Physician Assistant position is onsite at our Surgical Center in Corpus Christi, where you will engage directly with patients and the healthcare team. Your typical work schedule will encompass 40 hours each week, running from Monday to Friday, and concluding at 5:00 pm. This structured day provides ample opportunity to engage with patients and collaborate effectively with your team, while contributing to the overall mission of delivering quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and review patients' medical histories to gather pertinent information that aids in diagnosis.
• Order, interpret, and analyze diagnostic tests such as blood work and imaging studies to inform treatment plans.
• Diagnose health conditions and develop tailored treatment plans for patients, addressing both acute and chronic conditions.
• Prescribe appropriate medications and monitor patient responses, making adjustments as necessary.
• Educate patients and their families regarding their health conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures.
• Document all patient interactions and treatment plans accurately, maintaining meticulous records to comply with legal and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of 5 MDs and 5 Nurse Practitioners to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Engage in continuous professional development, staying abreast of the latest advancements in medicine to enhance clinical practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In your role as a Physician Assistant, you will primarily serve adult patients dealing with a range of health issues associated with internal medicine. This includes managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, as well as acute illnesses that require immediate attention. Your ability to connect with patients and provide empathetic care will be essential in fostering patient trust and encouraging adherence to treatment plans.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies or a related field is required.
• A valid Texas State Physician Assistant license is mandatory.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) is required.
• A DEA number for prescribing medications is necessary.
• Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies is preferred.
• Bilingual skills are advantageous but not required.

Preferred Experience

• Demonstrated experience as a Physician Assistant in clinical settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or emergency rooms is essential.
• Specialization or experience in primary care, acute care, or chronic disease management is highly valued.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and patient care protocols.

Compensation and Benefits
