Scientist II, Product Quality & Occupational Toxicologist

AbbVie seeks an early-career toxicologist to support occupational, environmental, and product safety assessments across therapeutic areas and development stages. The role involves evaluating literature, generating risk assessments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate toxicology literature and reports; generate risk assessments using read-across and in silico approaches
• Calculate health-based exposure limits, permitted daily exposures, and occupational exposure limits
• Support product quality toxicology assessments for non-conformances and complaints
• Coordinate hazard classifications and safety data sheets with cross-functional teams
• Manage occupational health categorizations and chemical registrations under GHS/CLP standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in toxicology, pharmacology, or related science with 7 years experience; or Master's degree with 5 years relevant experience
• Minimum 3 years experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, GMP/GLP, or regulatory setting
• Proficiency in scientific literature review and application of theoretical frameworks
• Strong collaboration, multitasking, and written communication skills
• Experience with toxicity data mining and risk assessment authoring
• Knowledge of regulatory guidance including ISO, ICH standards
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems
