BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Principal Manager – Internal Communications (gRED Research Communications) Job Title: Principal Manager – Internal Communications (gRED Research Communications) Duration: 12 Months (08/17/2026 – 08/13/2027) Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard 8-hour shift (occasional weekends as needed) Work Model: Hybrid (Wednesday is the anchor onsite day; two additional onsite days are flexible/negotiable) Travel: One week in Monterey, CA for team meeting Interview Process: Two Rounds (45-minute Hiring Manager Interview + 60-minute Panel Interview including a Case Study/Writing Exercise) Pay range: $80- $96/hr on w2 Job Description : BCforward is seeking an experienced Principal Manager – Internal Communications to support Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) in building the next generation of internal communications capabilities. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a senior communications professional who excels at developing communication strategies, executive messaging, employee engagement programs, and organizational communication frameworks within complex scientific organizations. You will partner closely with senior Research leaders to establish scalable communication processes, governance, and best practices while driving executive communications, organizational announcements, leadership forums, and enterprise-wide employee engagement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building communication infrastructure from the ground up while remaining hands‑on in delivering high‑visibility communications that influence organizational success. Key Responsibilities Design and implement scalable internal communications frameworks, governance models, templates, and communication best practices. Partner with Research executives and senior leadership to develop strategic communication plans aligned with business priorities. Lead executive communications including speeches, leadership messaging, town halls, presentations, and organizational announcements. Develop repeatable communication strategies that improve consistency across Research departments. Manage high-profile employee communication initiatives, leadership forums, engagement campaigns, and Research-wide meetings. Create communication plans supporting scientific milestones, business initiatives, and organizational priorities. Collect and analyze employee feedback to provide actionable recommendations that improve engagement and communication effectiveness. Collaborate across Genentech, Roche, and gRED teams to ensure enterprise-wide communication alignment. Support organizational transformation and change management communications with transparency and empathy. Introduce modern communication practices, measurement strategies, and data-driven improvements. Manage multiple strategic communications projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required (BA/BS). 10+ years of experience in Internal Communications. Experience supporting Research, Scientific, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or Technical organizations. Strong background in Executive Communications and Leadership Messaging. Experience creating communication frameworks, governance models, communication strategies, and operating processes. Proven ability to advise and influence senior executives. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills. Strong project management experience managing multiple strategic initiatives. Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and execution levels. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting organizational change and transformation initiatives. Advanced degree in Life Sciences or related discipline. Background in both Internal and External Communications. Consulting or executive advisory experience. Experience leading enterprise employee engagement programs, leadership conferences, or large-scale internal events.
