Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a high-acuity, heavily cardiac-focused PCU/Stepdown unit managing complex patient populations including heart failure, A-Fib, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, LVAD, and heart transplant patients
• Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers — no remediation opportunities and no tech assistance permitted
• Administer and titrate common cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Assist with and provide post-procedural care for right and left heart catheterizations, sheath removal/management, TR band management, stent placement, valve replacement, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site management
• Manage chest tubes and provide care for patients with high acuity, frequent admissions/discharges, and significant procedural volume at a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
• Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; travelers are not eligible for the Cardiac Monitor Tech float role

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Georgia (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac drips (insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin), telemetry interpretation, and prior successful completion of a telemetry exam
• Chest tube experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must rate a "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local travelers will not be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Heart transplant experience preferred (training available if needed)
• LVAD experience preferred (training available if needed)
• Familiarity with congenital heart disease patient populations
• Experience with high-volume procedural cardiac units
