IT Specialist (DATAMGT)

This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Office of the Chief Data Officer. As an IT Specialist (DATAMGT), you will be implementing the Bureau's data strategy, which includes expanding its Fiscal Data Hub. The Fiscal Data Hub offers a cloud-native sandbox environment backed by Databricks and AWS designed for exploring, integrating, and predictive modeling on billions of structured records. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. GS-13 Specialized Experience Leading enterprise data engineering modernization across cloud, hybrid, multi-cloud, or large-scale data environments. Establishing architecture standards and reusable patterns for data integration, governance, metadata, virtualization, data mesh, automation, and cloud migration. Advising technical teams, leaders, and stakeholders on platform strategy, scalable pipelines, APIs, data services, ETL/ELT, data quality, security, AI-ready data, and AWS or Azure implementation. GS-12 Specialized Experience Independently developing and optimizing data engineering solutions for large or complex datasets, including ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and cloud-based workflows. Integrating data from multiple sources using modern tools such as scripting languages, query languages, APIs, AWS, Azure, NoSQL, or distributed processing technologies. Implementing data quality, lineage, metadata, security, and governance controls to support analytics, dashboards, automation, AI/ML use cases, and reliable operations. GS-11 Specialized Experience Developing and maintaining data pipelines that extract, transform, load, validate, or move data across systems. Using modern data engineering tools such as scripting languages, query languages, APIs, Jupyter or cloud-based notebook environments, version control, and cloud services to clean, transform, validate, and automate data workflows. Supporting ETL/ELT processes, APIs, dashboards, reporting, documentation, quality checks, and preparation of datasets for analytics or AI/ML use cases.
