Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantSalem Media is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to support key accounting and financial reporting functions across the organization. This role will be responsible for cash posting, reconciliations, month-end close activities, financial reporting support, and tracking programmatic revenue performance.The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with operational leadership while contributing to the accuracy and integrity of company financial reporting.ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial ReportingPrepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close processAssist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedulesMaintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and roll forward schedulesSupport month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial analysis and reportingAssist with quarterly and annual financial reporting requirementsCash Posting & Revenue TrackingProcess and post cash receipts and accounts receivable transactionsTrack, analyze, and report programmatic revenue activityPerform accounts receivable analysis and reportingMaintain deferred revenue roll forwards and related reconciliationsEnsure accuracy and completeness of financial data and supporting documentationGeneral Ledger & ReconciliationsAnalyze general ledger activity and investigate variances or discrepanciesPrepare account reconciliations and maintain supporting schedulesAssist with fixed assets, intangibles, and property tax accounting as neededSupport compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policiesCross-Functional CollaborationInterface with station leadership and internal departments during monthly closing processesCollaborate with accounting team members on special projects and process improvementsProvide support for audits, reporting requests, and operational finance initiativesAssist management with additional accounting and finance responsibilities as assignedQualificationsQualifications3–5+ years of accounting experience, including journal entries and month-end close responsibilitiesBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is requiredStrong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reportingIntermediate to advanced Excel skills requiredExperience with accounting software and financial systems requiredStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Great Plains accounting softwareKnowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparationExperience with fixed assets, deferred revenue, intangibles, and property taxes highly desirableCPA or CPA candidate a plusMedia, broadcast, or multi-entity accounting experience a plusBenefitsWhy Join Salem Media?Join a collaborative accounting team supporting a nationally recognized multimedia companyGain exposure to diverse accounting functions across broadcast, digital, and media operationsOpportunity to contribute to process improvements and operational efficienciesWork in an environment that values integrity, accountability, and professional growthCompetitive pay structure based on experienceHealth, dental, vision and life insurance401k retirement planPaid holidays and vacation timeEEO StatementCome see how Salem is DIFFERENT and why we've been certified as a "Great Place To Work" and as a "Best and Brightest" equal opportunity employer.Compensation$65k - $70k
