Radiology Section Chief (0.25 FTE) - IllinoisCOM

About the Position The Department of Surgery and Specialty Medicine at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty in Radiology. This part‑time (0.25 FTE) position is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor. The role will begin on June1,2026 and will involve overseeing the development and delivery of the radiology curriculum, supporting faculty recruitment and development, and fostering a collaborative, student‑focused environment. Principal Duties Leadership & Administration Provide visionary leadership for Radiology within the IllinoisCOM Lead curriculum development and assessment for radiology clinical rotations Assist with preclinical course curriculum development and assessment as needed Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty members within the department Maintain partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and community organizations Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies Teaching, Curriculum Development, & Student Success Teach medical students using evidence‑based instructional methods, including case‑based and small‑group learning Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in clinical and academic settings Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate radiology content across the curriculum Represent the College in professional organizations and events Assist with student recruitment and community outreach efforts Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education Service Participate in college and university committees Support student and faculty participation in community outreach and service‑learning programs Engage in clinical practice (highly encouraged) Research & Scholarly Activity Promote a culture of research and scholarship Support faculty and student research Seek external funding opportunities and partnerships to enhance research initiatives Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance for research activities Qualifications Basic Qualifications DO or MD degree with board certification in a related specialty At least five (5) years of experience in medical education, residency training, or faculty leadership Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills Commitment to collaborative, interprofessional education and the integration of osteopathic principles At least five (5) years of clinical practice experience Ideal Qualifications Experience as a department chair, program director, or senior faculty leader in an accredited medical school or residency program Strong background in educational innovation, simulation‑based training, and competency‑based assessment Established record of research and scholarly activity in primary care or medical education Demonstrated commitment to health equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical practice and medical education Position Details Salary: $43,750 – $62,500 (part‑time, 0.25 FTE), commensurate with experience and academic rank Location: Chicago, IL (relocation assistance available for eligible candidates) Reports to: Chair of Surgery and Specialty Medicine Employment type: Part‑time Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States Compensation & Benefits Base salary ranging from $43,750 to $62,000, commensurate with experience Paid time‑off, medical and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement plan with employer contribution, flexible spending accounts, tuition reimbursement Equal Opportunity Employer The Chicago School is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
