Accountant I

What We Are Looking ForThis position is responsible for supporting cash accounting activities, including bank and credit card reconciliations, daily cash reporting, month-end close processes, and unclaimed property compliance. The successful candidate will prepare journals, research and resolve reconciling items, and collaborate across departments to ensure accurate financial records and the timely resolution of accounting issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a team-oriented environment.What You Will Do• Prepare monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.• Prepare journals and supporting documentation for the month-end close process.• Prepare and maintain daily cash sheets to support cash management activities.• Complete cash module setup, maintenance, and monthly close activities.• Research, investigate, and resolve outstanding checks and other reconciling items.• Collaborate with Treasury, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable teams to resolve cash-related issues.• Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, investigate, and resolve bank reconciliation discrepancies.• Manage the identification, review, and escheatment of outstanding checks in compliance with state unclaimed property regulations.• Perform due diligence outreach to property owners, including preparing, mailing, tracking, and maintaining required notices and correspondence. • Prepare and file annual unclaimed property reports, state remittances, and maintain the Unclaimed Property Matrix in accordance with changing state requirements. • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal customers, business partners, and coworkers.• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.What You Need• Minimum 2 to 4 years related work experience preferred.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments.• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.• Working knowledge of Lawson preferred.*Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of the successful candidateWhy Join Kinder MorganKinder Morgan is a large energy infrastructure company operating in North America.
