Details Med/Surg Ortho unit in a short-term acute care, Level I trauma teaching hospital Patient ratios of 1:4-5 for all shifts Cares for ortho patients including knee, hip, total joint, hand, shoulder, foot and ankle, trauma, oncology, and complicated ortho cases Fast-paced, high turnover unit with early mobility protocols (out of bed within 4 hours post-op) Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30) Every other weekend required No on-call requirements Floating required within service line to meet facility needs EPIC charting system used Requirements Active MO or compact RN license required BLS and ACLS certification required BSN preferred Minimum 1 year of RN experience required Med/Surg experience required Ortho experience preferred Level I Trauma experience preferred (2 years) EPIC charting experience required IV start and phlebotomy experience required Must pass Relias EKG exam demonstrating interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response required Experience with trapeze, walker, traction, lifts, and external fixation preferred First-time travelers accepted only with EPIC experience Additional Information Provide care for ortho patients requiring drains, ice packs, PCA, epidural management, phlebotomy, and specialized mobility precautions Deliver patient education as part of daily responsibilities Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved Navy scrub color required Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler Standard travelers may work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service American Traveler Job ID P-750741.
