About the Opportunity: We are partnering with a publicly traded biotech company to identify an experienced Controller Consultant to provide senior-level accounting leadership during a significant transition. This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring someone with strategic leadership skills as well as someone confident working on a small team.

Duration: 9-12 months, starting in October

\n

\n

Hours: 30 hours/week on average

\n

\n

Location: 100% remote. Ideally located in PST time zone

\n

\n

Compensation: $110-140/HR W2

\n

Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.

\n

Scope:

\n

\n
• Partner closely with the CFO and finance team to transition accounting responsibilities from the organization’s current shared-services structure
\n
• Provide hands-on leadership across core accounting and Controller activities within a publicly traded company environment
\n
• Support SEC reporting, financial statement preparation, period-end close activities, and other external reporting requirements
\n
• Help maintain effective SOX/404 processes, internal controls, and public-company accounting compliance throughout the transition
\n
• Address accounting matters, including accounting considerations associated with royalty-based revenue arrangements
\n
• Evaluate and enhance accounting processes to support a streamlined, primarily virtual finance organization
\n
• Provide additional accounting and finance support as priorities evolve throughout the consulting engagement

Qualifications & Expertise:

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, required. CPA preferred
\n
• Experience as a Controller or comparable senior accounting leader within a publicly traded pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences organization
\n
• Strong knowledge of SEC reporting and public-company financial reporting requirements
\n
• Solid understanding of public-company internal controls and SOX/404 compliance
\n
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a lean environment and personally execute detailed accounting work when required
\n
• Ability to successfully navigate organizational change and transitions involving shared-services, outsourced, or third-party accounting resources
\n
• Royalty accounting experience preferred
\n
• Exposure to tax considerations associated with royalty or similar revenue arrangements is a plus
\n
