Senior Backend Developer

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design, develop, and deliver scalable backend services for a large-scale Marketplace Shopping platform. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, distributed systems, and system design. This role requires an engineer who can independently own complex technical problems, make sound architectural decisions, work effectively with ambiguous requirements, and drive solutions from design through implementation and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices.
- Develop high-quality production code using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design distributed systems capable of supporting high-volume and highly scalable workloads.
- Implement event-driven architectures and integrations using Kafka.
- Participate in system design and architecture discussions and make sound technical decisions.
- Own complex technical problems from initial design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable backend solutions.
- Design and implement solutions for ambiguous and evolving business requirements.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, code quality, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 10-15 years of professional Java development experience.
- 10+ years of experience with Spring Boot and microservices.
- 10+ years of experience with system design and distributed systems.
- 3+ years of experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
- Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational databases.
- Strong hands-on coding and software development experience.
- Experience designing and delivering production-scale backend applications.
- Ability to independently own complex technical problems and drive solutions through production.
- Strong understanding of scalable, resilient, and distributed application architectures.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in marketplace, e-commerce, or retail environments.
- Experience with Spring Cache.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with BigQuery.
- Experience with performance optimization and tuning.
- Experience owning and supporting large-scale production systems.
- Experience building and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
