Four regional offices form the backbone of Textainer leasing, resale, and operations activities, serving locations across the globe.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with the monthly general ledger close process, ensuring that the process provides timely and accurate financial reporting.Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.Prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and account analysis to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger accounts, bank balances, etc.Prepare audit schedules for external auditors.Assist with management reporting and ad hoc reporting as required.Assist with compliance with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures and reporting requirements.Assist with monthly P&L Balance Sheet variance/flux analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of balances.Work with other team members to resolve reconciliation discrepancies.Collaborate with other departments to ensure business transactions have been properly recorded.Assist in the creation and/or documentation of accounting policies, processes, and procedures.Understand the various accounting systems used and evaluate and recommend changes for performance, efficiency, and growth, drive process improvements and system automation.Special projects and troubleshooting targets as identified and required by the Accounting Manager.Responsible for preparing schedules for subsidiaries and detailed interaction with external auditors.Collaborate with offshore IT teams to support system-related processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and data integrity.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge and SkillsProficient Excel skills required (v lookups, pivot tables, etc.)Ability to perform month-end fluctuation analysisBe a strong team player - enjoy working with colleagues at all levels of the organizationTake ownership of job responsibilities and ad hoc projectsStrong understanding and working knowledge of GAAP requiredDetail-oriented and shows willingness to learnDeadline-orientedExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independentlyEducation and ExperienceBS / BA in Business Administration (Accounting) or equivalent experience1-3 years of accounting experiencePhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times.Ability to commute to the SF office from Monday to Wednesday (3 days) each week.Textainer is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on any protected status.
