About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Minimum 2 years of experience in a Med/Surg/Telemetry setting Description: The registered nurse will provide care in a Med/Surg/Telemetry environment. Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is essential. Telemetry skills, including remote monitoring, are required. The role involves the use of Rapid Response and Code teams. Knowledge in managing bowel obstructions and colostomy/ileostomy care is necessary. Candidates should possess skills in feeding tube management and pre/post hemodialysis management. Experience in renal failure, blood product administration, and central line blood draw is required. The nurse will provide peripheral line care/management and perform phlebotomy. Candidates will manage PICC lines and start and maintain IVs. Expertise in administering heparin and insulin is essential. Experience with patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) is required. Candidates should be proficient in chest tube management, including Emerson and PleurEvac systems. Knowledge of BiPAP/CPAP management and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is preferred. Skills in non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning are necessary. Oxygen administration and management of oxygen tanks are also part of the role. Understanding of isolation precautions and PPE is a must. Wound care experience, including the use of wound vacs, is essential. Candidates must possess BLS and NIHSS certifications. Preferred skills include ACLS, telemetry monitoring, and experience with post-angiogram and post-cardiac surgery patients. Experience with IV insulin protocols and bariatric surgery is advantageous. Knowledge in continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) and managing surgical drains is required. Candidates should be familiar with cerebrovascular accident (CVA) management and substance withdrawal treatments. Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) is preferred. Experience with pre/post thoracic surgery care is a plus. Candidates with previous charge experience and electronic documentation skills are preferred. Community hospital experience is valued. Patient diagnoses will include, but are not limited to, diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive. The registered nurse will be expected to float to other units as needed. Shifts will require every other weekend commitment. Candidates must be willing to work holidays and respond to catastrophic events, including mass casualties or disasters.
