About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Experience in managing telemetry patients - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias - Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and rapid response team usage Description: This position is located within the float pool. The unit has patients located within the emergency department who are waiting for an inpatient bed. Patients may present with various medical or surgical adult diagnoses. Travelers may encounter PCU level patients. Travelers are expected to take MS/Tele cases and float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed. Target ratios are 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients. Every other weekend is required. Contract staff may be assigned to work during catastrophic events or mass casualties. Patient diagnoses include any adult medical or surgical conditions. The unit operates with standard medical equipment, including cardiac monitors and IV pumps. Key skills include colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure care, and blood product administration. Additional skills required are phlebotomy, PICC line management, isolation precautions, and non-invasive airway management. Travelers must be available for floating within or near the facility. The work environment requires high acuity management due to a fast-paced setting with seriously ill patients.
