Title: Service Manager

Reports to: Operations Manager

Status: Full-time 10.5 months school year position

Schedule : Monday-Friday, as needed based on service, events and operational requirements.

Position Overview

Job Purpose
The Service Lead is responsible for daily front-of-house operations and catering coordination for the Acre Real School Lunch Program. This role ensures high-quality service, food presentation, and a clean, safe, and organized working environment. The Lead acts as the main point of contact for service logistics and school community relations.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Service Operations

• Execute daily lunch service according to Acre standards and cleanliness protocols.
• Communicate daily logistics and needs with the management team.
• Supervise and manage lunch service flow and timing.
• Maintain exceptional customer service and act as a liaison with the school community.
• Submit weekly (Friday) service reports/checklists.
• Attend weekly catering meetings to coordinate needs and orders for the following week.
• Participate in kitchen opening and closing for school breaks.

Food Quality & Coordination

• Ensure all food preparation and service meets Acre standards.
• Oversee setup, timing, and maintenance of all food stations.
• Contribute notes to the Chef’s book regarding quantities, prep adjustments, and feedback.
• Monitor leftover usage for efficiency and quality.
• Complete donation forms and coordinate with Food Runners as needed.

Ordering & Inventory

• Support food and supply ordering processes.
• Receive and verify daily deliveries against order sheets and pricing guidelines.
• Maintain accurate inventory of dry and fresh goods with proper rotation.
• Collect and submit vendor invoices and employee paperwork to the office.

Staff Oversight

• Delegate daily responsibilities to staff including prep, cleaning, and service.
• Manage scheduling and performance of direct reports.
• Maintain a professional and respectful workplace environment.
• Ensure stations are clean throughout and after service.
• Enforce Acre’s break and labor policies, including pre-approval of all overtime.
• Manage employee timekeeping, including monitoring daily clock-ins/clock-outs, addressing missed or inaccurate punches, ensuring meal breaks are properly recorded, and reviewing time and attendance for accurate payroll processing.
• Provide on-site HR support as needed.

Catering

• Lead service and coordination for all catering events and special functions.
• Ensure clear communication with event organizers and kitchen staff.
• Assist in ordering and organizing event-related equipment and supplies.

Other Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations during inspections.
• Participate in performance reviews with management.
• Attend 1–2 annual training sessions as assigned.
• Complete special projects or other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to commercial kitchen equipment and general office supplies.
• Standing for extended periods; repetitive tasks such as lifting and serving.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a food service setting.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in food service or hospitality.
• High school diploma required; post-secondary coursework in culinary arts or hospitality preferred.
• ServSafe Manager Certification required.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, including HAACP documentation.
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with inventory control and vendor receiving.
• Basic computer literacy, including Gmail and Google Workspace.
• Adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.

Compensation, Benefits and Schedule:

• Hourly starting rate at $28-$32/ range $28-$35, depending on experience
• Full-time (10–10.5 months during the school year)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, as scheduled by the Operations Manager. Must be available for receiving, prep, administrative days outside the school calendar, and school-related catering events.
