For more information about Draper, visit Description Summary:**The Senior Mechanical CAD Designer creates designs and technical drawings for fixturing & test equipment. They work closely with engineers and other professionals to create and improve manufacturing systems or processes and develop drawings for a wide variety of machines. Mechanical CAD designer reviews specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.**Job Description:****Duties/Responsibilities*** Prepare calculations on the proposed machine before completing technical drawings.* Sketch and draw up designs using input from engineers and architects on the team.* Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis.* Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards.* Submit drawings to upper management and construction teams.* Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the equipment is built properly and according to design specifications.* Finalize designs and send prints to the production department.* Serve as a mentor to junior staff.**Skills/Abilities*** Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.* Excellent problem-solving skills.* Deep CAD knowledge.* Strong computer and mathematical skills.* Strong SolidWorks and/or CREO skills.* Knowledge of 3DX Product Lifecycle Management tool.* Possess strong organizational skills.* Excellent planning and time management skills.* Familiarity with MIL-STD-31000.* Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning & tolerancing.* Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.* Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment.**Education*** Requires a Technical or Associate's degree in drafting, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering or other relevant field.**Experience*** Requires 10+ years of experience designing in 3D CAD and producing 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or CREO.* Work experience in a defense contracting environment is preferred.**Additional Job Description:**Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.Connect With Draper for Future Opportunities!
