Senior Accountant

Job Description Job Description The Atlantic Group has partnered with a highly respected nonprofit organization with more than 200 years of service based in the Brooklyn, NY area. They have an immediate need for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This position is a full-time contract role that’s around 3 months in length. Summary: The Accountant in a non-profit organization is responsible for managing financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting to support the organization's mission. Schedule: Hybrid Key Responsibilities Financial Management: Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements risingsunopp.org+1. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring expenditures against budgeted amounts, and providing variance analysis Grant Management: Manage financial reporting for grants and ensure compliance with funder requirements. Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors and stakeholders Audit Preparation: Lead the annual audit process, including preparation of necessary documentation and coordination with external auditors Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning. - Internal Controls: Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure the integrity of financial data Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure effective communication of financial information and support organizational goals Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred 3+ years of accounting experience Nonprofit experience required Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel Grant accounting experience is a strong plus Note: Qualified candidates will be contacted within 3 business days of application.
