The role runs from late September 2026 through early June 2027, offering the chance to make a lasting impact over a full school year.

Ideal Qualifications:

• Valid PEL (Professional Educator License) and LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist 1) credentials in Illinois
• Proven experience or practicum in special education, preferably at the middle school level
• Strong ability to adapt instruction and resources to meet a diverse range of learning needs
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive environment where all learners feel supported
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and staff
• Organizational skills to track student progress and set measurable goals

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored instructional support, accommodations, and interventions to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to coordinate educational plans
• Monitor academic and behavioral progress, documenting achievements and areas for growth
• Participate in IEP meetings and help guide students toward their goals
• Promote self-advocacy and independence in a safe, nurturing setting
