Work Environment

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at our school facility in San Antonio, you will work onsite in a modern, well-equipped clinic. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to accurately diagnose mental health disorders in students.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans using evidence-based practices, taking into account the unique needs of each patient.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, making necessary adjustments based on patient progress and feedback.
• Offer psychotherapy and counseling services, utilizing a diverse range of therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and effective self-care strategies.
• Document patient progress meticulously, monitoring medication responses and therapy outcomes.
• Conduct regular follow-up appointments to assess the effectiveness of treatment plans and make adjustments as required.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Active registered nursing license and certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in a school setting or working with children and adolescents.
