2026-2027 Exceptional Children’s Pre‑K Teacher Cabarrus County School District – Mary Frances Wall Center, Concord, North Carolina Starting Date: Aug 5, 2026 Job ID: 5786683 Job Title: Exceptional Children’s Pre‑K Teacher Salary: Based on North Carolina Teaching Salary Schedule Reports to: Principal Position Type: Full‑Time Essential Functions Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that employ effective teaching strategies. Maintain classroom management, recognizing and addressing learning and behavior issues. Understand developmental appropriateness of materials and differentiate instruction to meet all learners’ needs. Evaluate student accomplishments regularly using multiple assessment methods; provide progress and interim reports. Communicate with parents in a timely manner; maintain positive, constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community. Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities by taking necessary precautions. Uphold board policy, district goals, administrative procedures and school rules and regulations; adhere to health and safety policies. Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time. Keep current in subject‑matter knowledge and learning theory; attend workshops, seminars and conferences and participate in staff, department and curriculum meetings as required. Respect confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers in accordance with professional ethics and state and federal laws. Share responsibility during the school day for supervising students in designated areas of the school. Ability to perform non‑instructional duties as assigned. Standard III: Teachers Know the Content They Teach Align instruction with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Bring a richness and depth of understanding to the classroom by knowing content appropriate to the teaching specialty. Recognize interconnectedness of content areas and the vertical alignment of grade or subject taught. Make instruction relevant by incorporating 21st‑century life skills into teaching. Standard IV: Teachers Facilitate Learning for Their Students Understand how learning occurs and the appropriate developmental levels of students. Plan instruction in collaboration with colleagues using a variety of data sources. Use effective instructional methods and techniques that meet student needs. Integrate and utilize technology to maximize student learning. Help students develop critical thinking, problem‑solving, teamwork and leadership skills. Communicate effectively so that students clearly understand. Use multiple indicators to assess student learning. Standard V: Teachers Reflect on Their Practice Analyze student learning systematically and critically. Link professional growth to goals by participating in high‑quality professional development. Function effectively in a complex, dynamic environment that acknowledges constant change. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree from an approved education program in subject area. Strong background in North Carolina Course of Study / Common Core and Essential Standards. At least 1 year of relevant experience (preferred). Bachelor’s degree (preferred). Physical Requirements Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Speech, hearing, manual dexterity, repetitive motions; occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching, pushing or pulling, lifting. Standard vision requirements. Vocal communication required. Hearing required to perceive information at speaking volume. Prepare and analyze written or computer data; operate machines, motor vehicles or equipment; observe general activities. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work typically in a moderately noisy location. Special Requirements NC Teaching License in appropriate subject area or qualifications to obtain one. NC DPI Licensure. NC DPI Licensure is required.
