Job Description Position Type : Part‑time, Temporary Starting Date : Aug 5, 2026 Salary : $16.80 to $25.39 per hour Pay Grade : NC04 Reports To : Principal General Definition of Work Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical and clerical tasks in assisting a teacher. Employee may perform a wide range of tasks to support the lead teacher, meet the needs of all students, and ensure the provision of quality instruction. The role includes one‑on‑one assistance with academics and behavior, leading small group activities, and supporting housekeeping and clerical duties. Qualification Requirements High school diploma and 48 semester hours, or High school diploma and an associate’s degree or higher, or High school diploma and at least a silver score on WorkKeys Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of daily classroom routines General knowledge of student handbook rules General knowledge of emergency procedures General knowledge of principles of organization and administration Basic knowledge of the curriculum for the grade Excellent written and oral communication skills Constant monitoring of student safety and well‑being, especially during inclusive activities Ability to motivate students Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment Ability to perform general clerical duties Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom Ability to operate common office machines Ability to maintain basic files and records Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as needed by work assignments Essential Functions Assist teacher with planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating instructional activities; develop classroom procedures and prepare necessary materials. Constantly monitor student safety and well‑being; encourage self‑esteem and independence. Monitor student behavior and assist in maintaining classroom discipline. Assist students with learning; reinforce and clarify instructions; conduct short sessions on study skills; provide one‑on‑one assistance as needed. Maintain standardized records and documentation of student progress. Perform general housekeeping duties, including repair and maintenance of school equipment. Conduct various clerical duties—maintain records, file incident reports, grade papers, score tests, check daily attendance, make copies, develop classroom displays and instructional materials, operate audiovisual equipment, order supplies, and maintain class files. Participate in staff development workshops. Perform related tasks as required or directed by a supervisor. Physical Requirements Use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment for children with special needs. Exert negligible force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Physical requirements consistent with light work due to time spent standing and/or walking.
