Senior finance leadership role • Construction industry *This is an in-person position in NYC* Position Overview We are looking for a seasoned Controller to take full ownership of our financial operations, on behalf of a client. This is a high-impact leadership role for a construction-savvy finance professional who understands the nuances of the industry, from job costing and WIP reporting to subcontractor compliance and AIA billing. You will serve as the financial backbone of the company, working closely with ownership to drive strategic decisions, maintain tight controls, and ensure complete financial visibility across all active projects. What You’ll Do Manage work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and job cost accounting across all active projects Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management Ensure accurate and timely AIA billing, lien waivers, and subcontractor payment processes Lead month-end and year-end close processes Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies Coordinate with external CPA firm’s auditors Partner with project managers to track budgets, cost codes, and project profitability Manage and mentor the accounting team Develop and enforce internal controls and accounting policies Support ownership with budgeting and forecasting What We’re Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred) 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 in the construction industry (required) High integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment Deep knowledge of construction accounting — job costing, WIP, AIA billing, retainage and payroll Experience with construction accounting software (Acumatica preferred, Sage, Timberline or similar) Strong understanding of construction-specific financial reporting Proven ability to manage and develop an accounting team Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders General Contractor | Full-Time | W-2 Employee #J-18808-Ljbffr Orchestra
