RN Med/Surg

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and occasional pediatric care within a general Med/Surg unit in a rural Vermont hospital. This role involves coordinating exceptional patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and utilizing the Nursing Process to address patients' physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental needs. The RN will work primarily night shifts and be accountable to the Unit Director while fostering a supportive environment alongside the Clinical Nurse Lead and Nursing Supervisor. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to adult and occasional pediatric patients in a Med/Surg setting.
• Perform patient assessments and develop treatment plans based on the Nursing Process.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to meet holistic patient care needs.
• Coordinate patient care activities and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and credentialing requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical observations.
• Support unit operations by working closely with the Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nursing Supervisor.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain certifications.

• Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience.
• Current Vermont RN license or multi-state RN licensure.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rural healthcare environment.
• Reliable personal transportation due to limited public transit options.
• Flu vaccination compliance (required without exceptions).

• Experience with Meditech electronic health record system.
• Experience working in a rural or critical access hospital environment.
• Experience with swing bed and observation patient care.

• Night shift position primarily serving adult patients with occasional pediatric cases (not a pediatric floor).
• Must have reliable personal transportation due to lack of public transit and rideshare services.
• Credentialing documents must be submitted five business days prior to start date.
• Work environment includes a 25-bed critical access hospital in a rural community.

• Night shift schedule.
