RN Neuromusculoskeletal Med Surg Float

The Level II Registered Nurse (RN) Neuromusculoskeletal Med Surg Float is responsible for providing competent nursing care in a medical-surgical setting with a focus on neuromusculoskeletal patients. This role includes patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse may also assume expanded responsibilities such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee membership. A minimum of two years of medical-surgical experience, telemetry skills, and proficiency in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care based on established standards for neuromusculoskeletal medical-surgical patients.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.
• Assume expanded roles including charge nurse duties, precepting new staff, and participating in committees.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Respond to patient needs during weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback situations as required.

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of two years medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Telemetry nursing experience.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) only.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.

• Experience with electronic health records, preferably EPIC within the last year.
• Previous experience in charge nurse or preceptor roles.

• Must be available for rotating day, evening, and night shifts on inpatient units.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback shifts as needed.
• Ability to obtain tuberculosis (TB) skin test as required.
• Work environment includes neuromusculoskeletal medical-surgical unit requiring strong clinical skills and adaptability.

• Work schedules include 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Shifts rotate between day, evening, and night based on unit needs.
• Weekend and holiday coverage is required.
