RN Emergency Department

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ED) provides skilled nursing care in a fast-paced Level I trauma center, managing a diverse patient population with urgent and critical needs. This role requires expertise in telemetry and emergency nursing, including assessment, treatment, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The nurse will support patient care, assist with boarders, and ensure compliance with protocols in a high-volume, state-of-the-art facility. Prior travel ER experience and certifications are essential. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients in the Emergency Department.
• Perform patient assessments, telemetry monitoring, and emergency interventions.
• Manage care for trauma and critical patients in a Level I trauma center setting.
• Assist with boarder patients and facilitate patient flow in the ED.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interventions.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Participate in on-call, floating, holiday, callback, and charge nurse duties as required.

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Emergency Department nursing.
• Telemetry experience is mandatory.
• Previous travel ER nursing experience required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

• Experience with electronic medical records systems, preferably EPIC.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage high patient volumes and complex clinical situations.

• Must be able to work rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
• Blocked weekends schedule with floating, holiday, on-call, callback, and charge responsibilities as needed.
• ER environment does not support first-time travelers.
• Must be able to obtain a TB skin test.

• 36 or 48 hours per week with rotating blocked weekend shifts.
• Shifts include day, evening, and night rotations.
• Shift assignments based on unit needs and scheduling policies.
