RN Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

The Registered Nurse (NICU) provides specialized nursing care in a neonatal intensive care unit setting, collaborating with healthcare team members to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and educate patients and families. This role requires expertise in critical care nursing, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. The nurse is responsible for maintaining professional standards, enhancing nursing practice quality, and providing leadership within the clinical setting. Responsibilities:

• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to patient health and situation (Assessment).
• Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses or issues.
• Identify expected outcomes and develop individualized plans of care.
• Implement prescribed care plans and strategies to promote health and safety.
• Systematically improve nursing practice quality and effectiveness.
• Maintain knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing standards.
• Evaluate personal nursing practice against professional standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Integrate ethical provisions and research findings into clinical practice.
• Provide leadership and contribute to professional development of peers.
• Comply with hospital policies related to stroke care and participate in required stroke education.

• Active Registered Nurse license in Montana.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider certification.
• STABLE certification.
• Minimum of one year nursing experience in NICU, Labor & Delivery, Emergency Department, or Intensive Care.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with sound judgment and professionalism.

• Experience with stroke patient care and cerebrovascular disease education.
• Advanced competencies in neonatal intensive care nursing.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.

• Must exercise tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work varied and potentially stressful shifts.
• Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills required.
• Compliance with hospital protocols and guidelines related to stroke and neonatal care.

• Variable shifts as assigned, including possible nights and weekends.
• Shift patterns determined by unit staffing needs and patient care requirements.
