IR RN

The Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN) provides specialized nursing care to adult inpatients and outpatients undergoing a variety of interventional radiology procedures including biopsies, embolizations, ablations, angiography, and drain placements. Responsibilities encompass patient preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, and post-procedure recovery in PACU and extended stay settings. This role requires critical thinking, strong communication, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The IR RN also participates as a key member of the critical embolization response team for trauma patients. Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures, ensuring safety and stability.
• Provide post-procedure care and recovery management in PACU and extended stay (up to 23 hours).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Participate in the critical embolization response team for trauma patients.
• Adhere to infection prevention measures including wearing hospital-issued and laundered scrubs in procedural areas.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding patient status and care.

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience, including at least one year recent experience in Interventional Radiology.
• Telemetry monitoring experience.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system in interventional radiology or related specialty within the past year.

• Must comply with hospital infection prevention protocols, including wearing hospital-issued scrubs in procedural areas.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring teamwork and critical response.
• Participation in on-call rotations, weekends, and holiday shifts as needed.

• 40 hours per week, scheduled as four 10-hour shifts.
• Rotating day and night shifts.
• Weekend and holiday coverage required.
