RN Cardiac OR RNFA

Job Summary:

The Cardiac OR RNFA is a specialized Registered Nurse responsible for assisting in cardiac surgical procedures including chest exposure, closing, and independently performing vein harvesting for CABG surgeries. The role involves supporting complex cardiac cases such as structural heart procedures, minimally invasive valve replacements, heart failure interventions, and potentially heart transplants. The position requires strong clinical expertise, the ability to scrub and circulate in the operating room, and on-call availability. A minimum of 2 years of cardiac RNFA experience and relevant certifications are essential. Responsibilities:

• Assist with chest exposure and surgical closing during cardiac procedures.
• Independently perform vein harvesting for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgeries.
• Scrub and circulate in complex cardiac cases including CABGs, Bentall procedures, minimally invasive aortic valve replacements, and heart failure cases such as Impella.
• Support heart transplant surgeries as needed.
• Provide perioperative nursing care adhering to established protocols and standards.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
• Maintain readiness for on-call duties as required by unit needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cardiac RNFA.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
• Telemetry monitoring skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience assisting with DaVinci robotic cardiac surgery cases.
• Experience in heart transplant procedures.

Special Considerations:

• On-call responsibilities as per unit requirements.
• Ability to work in a high-acuity cardiac operating room environment.
• Flexibility to cover shifts primarily during weekdays with potential evening coverage.

Scheduling:

• 36 or 48 hours per week, primarily weekdays.
• Shift hours generally 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
• Shift assignments may include rotating days and evenings with on-call duties.
