RN Cath Lab

The SMH Level 4 Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to adult and pediatric cardiac patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures. This role focuses on mechanical and electrical cardiac interventions, pre- and post-procedural care, and collaboration with cardiovascular technologists to achieve excellent patient outcomes and satisfaction. The nurse must have critical care or cardiac experience, with expertise in a wide range of cardiac procedures and mechanical circulatory support devices. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care in the Cath and EP labs for inpatient and outpatient cardiac procedures.
• Perform pre- and post-procedural patient assessments and monitoring.
• Administer moderate sedation and manage dysrhythmia telemetry.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including cardiovascular technologists and physicians.
• Manage complex cardiac interventions such as TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, CTO, PCI, pericardiocentesis, and vascular interventions.
• Care for patients supported by mechanical circulatory devices including ECMO, Impella, IABP, ProtekDuo, and LVADs.
• Maintain patient safety and quality standards in a fast-paced procedural environment.
• Participate in charge nurse duties and unit-based leadership as needed.

• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience.
• Active New York State Registered Nurse license.
• BLS (AHA) certification.
• ACLS (AHA) certification.
• Moderate sedation training.
• Telemetry monitoring skills.
• Experience with TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, right and left heart hemodynamics, CTO, PCI, pericardiocentesis, vascular interventions, RotoPro, LVADs, AngioVac, and FlowTriever.
• Mechanical circulatory support experience including ECMO, Impella, IABP, ProtekDuo, and LVADs.
• Critical care or cardiac nursing experience.

• Cardiovascular certification or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification.
• Experience with device and ablation procedures and equipment.
• EP Lab experience.

• On-call, callback, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed.
• Charge nurse responsibilities per unit needs.
• Work in a high-acuity, procedural cardiac environment requiring critical thinking and rapid response.

• Preference for 36 hours per week.
• Shift options include 4x10 hour shifts or 3x12 hour shifts.
• Typical shift hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
